Are You All Wet Yet?

Drinking enough water? Or too much? Because exercise can lead to dehydration and cause everything from fatigue to heat stroke, experts suggest that exercisers up their intake of water. But when people drink too much, say three or four quarts of water in a few hours, they can suffer low blood sodium levels, brain swelling and even death. A good guideline? “Drink two to three cups of water an hour, and increase the amount if you are sweating heavily” and if you lost a pound, it means you are down one pint of fluid says Harvey Simon, MD , associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
